Chris Barber

Chris Barber joined ESAI in 2007 and became Principal in 2016. An expert in global refining markets and manages analytical work in refining and midstream sectors. He spearheaded a refining analysis tool combining crude slate quality, throughput, refining configuration, product market requirements, and pricing to assess the viability and profitability of individual refineries. He is also responsible for monthly publications on global refining margin forecasts and global refining capacity.

Chris is an expert in biofuel and RIN markets, overseeing the RIN pricing forecast [RINsights], the firm's monthly biofuels outlook, and the continued expansion of the scope of coverage, including a range of LCFS markets and sustainable aviation fuel. Participating in projects on refinery operations, refinery and petrochemical feedstocks, refinery unit valuations, crude oil valuations, RFS, and biofuel market implications for companies and investors.

Previously, Chris worked as an economic analyst at an environmental consulting firm and Operations Manager at a small fulfillment operation in New Jersey. He received his MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto and a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University.
